8-Bit Armies is a series of retro real-time strategy games developed by Petroglyph Games and initially released for Windows in 2016. The games includes Minecraft-like voxel graphics and are a tongue-in-cheek homage to classic RTS titles like Command & Conquer, WarCraft, and StarCraft. The gameplay is designed to be simple and accessible for all players. The eponymous title featured a modern warfare setting with two factions, the Renegades and the Guardians. This was followed by two standalone expansions: 8-Bit Hordes and 8-Bit Invaders!, which took the voxel gameplay to a medieval and sci-fi warfare setting, respectively. Cross-over functionalities are offered for players among the three titles. |
