About EC Comics Wiki This wiki was started as a fork of another wiki that the old EC wiki had been merged into, and is now its own stand-alone wiki with new articles, comic covers, art, and more.

Just what is/are "EC Comics?

EC Comics is a comic book publishing company that in the forties and fifties published titles such as Tales from the Crypt, Vault of Horror, Weird Science, MAD (later changed over to MAD magazine) and others. EC Comics is currently owned and managed by the Gaines family.

As of 2024, EC Comics is back in the comic-book publishing business, with brand-new titles/series Epitaphs From The Abyss (horror series) and Cruel Universe, a science-fiction title. They are being co-published by American comic book company Oni Press. More new and upcoming EC series were announced in late July 2024, such as Shiver SuspenStories (another horror title) and Cruel Kingdom (a sword and sorcery title).

There have been reboots of the classic EC titles as well in recent decades: In the early 1990s, a reboot of Two-Fisted Tales was carried out by Harvey Kurtzman, bearing the EC logo; However, the series lasted for only 2 issues. Later on, in the 2000s an attempt to relaunch EC and print a new series of CRYPTs was carried out by comic publishing company Papercutz, but the title lasted for only 13 issues. The most recent revival of an old/"original EC" series has been Tales from the Crypt Vol 3 ; those comics were published by Super Genius under a license with EC Comics.
