Family Matters is an American sitcom that aired on NBC from January 9, 1986 to December 23, 1994. It has a total of 215 episodes in 9 seasons. The series was created by William Bickley and Michael Warren and executive produced by Bickley and Warren, along with Thomas L. Miller and Robert L. Boyett.
Before the beginning of the series, Rachel Baines-Crawford married to Robert Crawford, and they had one son: Richie, then she has a family member are Harriette (sister), Jimmy and Darlene Baines (parents), Clarence (cousin), Eddie (nephew), Laura (niece), Judy (niece), and Carl (brother-in-law). Her husband died when she was mentioned by Carl's mother Estelle Winslow.
Family Matters is about an African-American middle-class family in Chicago, Illinois. The show focuses around the Winslow family. Carl, Harriette, their children, Eddie, Laura, Judy, Harriette's younger sister Rachel and her son Richie, and their nerdy neighbor Steve Urkel.
In the pilot episode, "The Mama Who Came to Dinner," the family had opened their home to Carl's street-wise mother, Estelle, usually known as "Mother Winslow." Prior to the series, Harriette's sister, Rachel Crawford and her infant son, Richie, had moved into the Winslow household after the death of Rachel's husband Robert Crawford.

Carl Winslow - Carl is a police officer of the Chicago Police Department.
Harriette Winslow - Carl's wife and she works at the Chronical as security.
Edward "Eddie" Winslow - The oldest son of Carl and Harriette
Laura Winslow-Urkel - The 2nd oldest child and oldest daughter of Carl and Harriette Winslow. She is the wife of Steve Urkel.
Judy Winslow - The 3rd child of Carl and Harriette Winslow.
Jerry "3J" Jamal Jameson - The youngest son of Carl and Harriette Winslow. He was adopted by the Winslow's in the 8th season.
Rachel Crawford - Rachel is the younger sister of Harriette. She moved into the Winslow household prior to the series with her son Richard "Richie" after her husband Robert passed away.
Richie Crawford - Richie is the only son of Rachel and Robert Crawford. He moved into the Winslow household with his mother after his father died before Richie was born.
Estelle Winslow - Estelle is the mother of Carl, Frank, Walter, Calvin, and Darryl. She moves in with Carl and Harriette in the pilot. She is also the grandmother to Eddie, Laura, & Judy and the adopted grandmother of 3J. She is the great aunt-in-law to Rachel and the great-aunt-in-law to Richie.
Jimmy Baines - The father of Harriette and Rachel and grandfather of Eddie, Laura, Judy, 3J, and Richie. He was in the season 1 episode where he came to finally see his daughters and grandchildren. He was married to Harriette and Rachel's mother Darlene before he took off.
Clarence Baines - Clarence is the cousin to the Winslow's who lives in Detroit with his mother. He shows in a season 2 episode and was sent back after getting into trouble and arrested with Eddie and Steve when he stole a car.

Edward James Arthur "Eddie" Winslow, is a character from the hit television sitcom Family Matters, played by Darius McCrary. The show aired from 1989 to 1998. In this story Carl and Harriette invites their new family members are Rachel (Harriette's sister) including her son Richie and Carl's best mother Estelle to help them raise his three children, Eddie, Laura and Judy. The show follows the everyday lives of the Winslow's and the comedy that often comes out of their struggles.
- In this pilot episode, Valerie Jones played the role of Judy Winslow. By the time the series went to a second episode, Jaimee Foxworth was able to take the role.
