The Franklin franchise began in 1986 with the children's book series Franklin the Turtle, written by Paulette Bourgeois and illustrated by Brenda Clark. In 1997, this book series was adapted into the television show Franklin, which ran until 2004. In 2011, a new show, Franklin and Friends, premiered, this time animated in CGI. It ran until 2011.
