Claire Elise Boucher (c) (born March 17, 1988 (37)), better known by her stage persona and character Grimes, is a Canadian singer, songwriter, musician, producer, artist, model, DJ, video editor, and music video director. Born and raised in Vancouver, her musical spark came while attending McGill University in Montréal where she became involved with the underground music scene and began recording her own experimental music. She abandoned studies in order to fully focus on that – a decision that profoundly changed her life. A few years later she debuted Geidi Primes, her first studio album, followed by Halfaxa shortly after. She collaborated with another Canadian musician d'Eon on a split extended play called Darkbloom before achieving international recognition and fame with her third ‘breakthrough’ album, Visions. Her second and third single – Genesis and Oblivion – are her most recognized songs. Following Visions, Grimes went on to fully develop her unique style of music, peaking with Art Angels, her fourth and most successful album. Five years later she released another album, Miss Anthropocene, and cemented herself as a labelless outspoken artist.
