History
Clara and her brother Gary Lodge was an orphan from Mahal, the colony destroyed that was forcibly repurposed into the Colony Laser system.[3]
They joined the Principality of Zeon to fight and gain citizenship. Clara saw Cima at a young age, who impressed upon her that, even though she was a marine, she may be called upon to pilot a mobile suit. Cima's appearance imprinted upon Clara greatly.
During this time, she became a member of the Indian Ocean Front Forces 203rd Strategic Oceanic Force. "Kraken Team", piloting a MAM-07 Grublo. After the end of the One Year War, Clara, Gary, and teammate Donino continued operations on Earth.
She participated in Operation Stardust, picking up and escorting RX-78GP02A Gundam GP02A (Type-MLRS) from the Indian Ocean to South Africa so it could escape from Earth via HLV.
At this time, she learned of surviving commander Cima Garahau and decided to abandon her team, with her brother's consent, to head to space and join her.[4]
Clara stole the RX-78GP04G Gundam "Gerbera" from Von Braun, planting explosives to make it appear destroyed. She delivered it to Anaheim Electronics, which was clandestinely supporting Operation Stardust. Anaheim was forced to totally refit the exterior to make it appear different from the GP-04, after which it was delivered to Cima and her pirates.[5]
After bringing the refit AGX-04 Gerbera Tetra to Cima and her pirates, Cima spurned her involvement, describing her as a kid that she didn't need as a marine.[6] However after helping her capture Geil Hunt, she was allowed to join her fleet - but not as a marine.[7]
When the Cima Fleet arrived at Von Braun, their negotiations were interrupted by the arrival of Kelly Laynzer and Kou Uraki in the RX-78GP03 Gundam "Dendrobium". Clara asked Cima for permission to sortie, and Cima accepted - offering her a permanent role as one of her marines if she should suceed.[8] She was almost instantly damaged by the Dendrobium and overwhelmed, but participated in the battle. The end result was that the colony was headed for earth and Clara was accepted into the marines.
Clara participated in Cima's rebellion and takeover of the Gwaden and attempt to stop the Delaz fleet. Her shots were off when the Neue Ziel, piloted by Anavel Gato, appeared, and she was outmatched during the inter-Zeon fighting. Cima came to her aid, rescuing her at the last moment from destruction by the Neue Ziel.[9]
Alongside Kou, Kelly, and Cima, Clara attacked the Ziel in a battle that Bask Om describe as "gladiatorial." Clara's Gelgoog was damaged by a barrage from a "friendly" Salamis and she pulled back to the Lili Marleen.[10] The ship was seemingly destroyed by the solar ray.
In actuality, Clara, Cima, and many of Cima's marines had escaped and shortly after fled the Earth Sphere aboard the Jupiter Energy Fleet.[11]
