Spring '25: Soul Reaver 1&2 Remastered, The Dead Shall Rise, the Scourge of the Sarafan, the Book of Nosgoth and more.
Well, you don’t need me to tell you what a rollercoaster ride the last few months has been. Let’s remember how at the start of last year a survey was all we had to show for the interest in the LoK franchise. Oh how the tables have turned and the fandom has been inundated with new projects and merchandise the like of which hasn’t been seen for 20 years. LoK is back and going strong.
Of course the big news in terms of gaming was the release of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered, directed by our own Raina Audron which landed in December to a generally favourable reception and positive sales figures - hang on that bears repeating - for the first time in more than 20 years an LoK game was officially released and it was good. Be honest, how many of you thought you’d never hear those words?
The remaster comes with something of a dream of a feature set for LoK enthusiasts. Of course the graphics, textures and character models were updated, of course the controls were updated, of course…

The Sarafan of Blood Omen were a category of vampire hunting enemy in Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain. The Sarafan were a monastic sect of warrior-priests who waged a holy war against the vampire race in Nosgoth's early history. Their crusade ceased centuries before the Blood Omen era, but some warriors returned as wraiths, or humans outside of the time-stream. Kain encountered them as enemies in Malek's Bastion and the Heaven dungeon among other locations .

The Grand Entrance Hall of Vorador's Mansion as it appears in Legacy of Kain: Defiance from the portfolio of artist Isabelle Lemay. The area served as an impressive entrance to reintroduce players to the Mansion in Defiance and offered a lower combat are and an upper level jumping puzzle which was crossed later in the level. The area was notably overshadowed by murals and statues depicting the Ancient vampires - including a stained glass of one of the ancient heroes armed with the Heart Seeker spear. The same champion and spear would be seen on murals throughout the mansion and were part of the puzzle to enter the Water Forge.
