About LEGO Friends

LEGO Friends is a product range (“theme”) of LEGO construction toys and playsets. The original theme was introduced in 2012 with the first “mini-doll” figures, which would come to be adopted by other themes such as Elves and Disney Princess. The sets are marked by bright color schemes and primarily themed around suburban life set in the fictional town of Heartlake City.

The original theme was marketed primarily to girls and utilized many purples, pinks, and pastels. It was released alongside multiple animated series featuring the main characters (the eponymous “Friends”) Andrea, Emma, Mia, Olivia, and Stephanie. In 2018, the series received a reboot, associated with a new animated series, “Girls on a Mission”. The show introduced new designs for the original cast and a new storyline.

In 2023, LEGO more fully rebooted the theme to appeal to a wider audience with an all-new cast of characters. The new version, with its own "Next Chapter" web series, centers around students at Heartlake City High School.
