Little Bear is a curious and imaginative male grizzly bear cub who lives with his Mother and Father Bear in a house in the forest.^[1] Little Bear is clever and creative, and loves to play,^[2] explore,^[3] and fish. He wants to become a fisherman one day, just like his father.^[4] When Father Bear is not away on a fishing trip, he often goes on adventures with Little Bear.^[5][6][7] But, when Father Bear is out at sea, Little Bear helps Mother Bear in the house^[8] and in the garden.^[9] He loves his mother very much,^[10][11][12] and is always happy when she plays with him.^[13] Mother Bear is always there to comfort Little Bear when he's frightened^[14] or sad.^[15]

Little Bear loves being around members of his extended family. He sometimes goes to visit his grandparents,^[16] where he has fun playing with his grandfather,^[17] eating his grandmother's delicious food,^[18] and listening to their wonderful stories.^[19][20][21] He also loves being around his uncle Rusty.^[22][7][23] Little Bear admires Rusty, and sometimes tries to emulate him.^[24]

Little Bear is very kind, helpful, and generous with both acquaintances^[25] and strangers.^[26] He is very rarely grumpy or cross.^[27][28] He frequently plays with his many friends, including Duck, Cat, Owl, Hen,^[29] and his best friend, Emily.^[30] They play games,^[31] they make-believe,^[32] and they go on adventures together.^[3]
