Magic: The Gathering Foundations is an entry-level Magic set designed to provide a common base for both new and experienced players. It is a Standard-legal draftable booster set with additional fixed products, and will be released on November 15, 2024.
Foundations is a new type of set designed to carry through multiple Standard rotations. It contains mechanically unique card designs as well as "less-complex, clean and elegant" reprints, functioning similarly to an "evergreen Core set". Unlike other Standard-legal sets, cards in Foundations will remain legal in Standard until 2029, at least.
The release of Foundations includes a Beginner Box, designed as an onboarding experience for beginning players. There is also a Starter Collection, which is a fixed card set that helps the beginning players expand on the themes and techniques they’ve already discovered in the Beginner Box. On the same day as the main set, the Foundations Jumpstart set will be released. In the news
