The O.C. was a teen drama series created by Josh Schwartz, that aired on Fox from August 5 in 2003 to February 22 in 2007. It ran for four seasons, totalling 92 episodes. The name comes from where the series events take place; Orange County, California.

The series centers around Ryan Atwood, a troubled youth from a broken home who which is first "lodge" and then finally adopted, by the rich Cohen family, who lives in the sunny Orange County. He becomes immediate friends with their son Seth Cohen and intrigued by the girl next door, Marissa Cooper.

The series premiered with high ratings and was widely referred to as a pop cultural phenomenon, receiving mostly positive reception from critics. However, ratings declined as the show went on, which led to cancellation in early 2007, even after an online petition gained over 700,000 signatures.
