Princess Tutu (プリンセスチュチュ Purinsesu Chuchu), is a Japanese magical girl anime series created by Ikuko Itoh in 2002 for Hal Film Maker. Inspired by ballet and fairy tales, particularly The Ugly Duckling and Swan Lake, the story follows a duck who turns into a 13 year old girl with the powers of a pendant gifted to her by Drosselmeyer. In order to save the storybook prince by gathering the shattered pieces of his heart, Ahiru uses the pendant's powers to transform into Princess Tutu.
