Synopsis
Reserved high school student Azemichi Shijimi and former child actor Taiyo Higashikata share a mutual love for comedy. Discovering Azemichi's talent as an acclaimed but anonymous joke writer, Taiyo cunningly persuades him to join forces for a sketch comedy act at their school's cultural festival. Their performance strikes gold, earning them the coveted award for the best act.
Recognizing their individual strengths—Azemichi's knack for comedy writing and timing, and Taiyo's skills in performance and improvisation—the duo realizes their compatibility and forms the comedy team "One-Way Ticket to the Top" (天頂片道切符). To gain Azemichi's parents' approval, they set out to win the bimonthly High School Comedy Battle. There, they encounter their rivals, the duo Sprechchor, and despite coming second behind Rising, the latter relinquishes their position, allowing One-Way Ticket to the Top to take first place and pursue their comedic journey.
Their aspirations continue as they enter the Kanto-2 block preliminary round of "Wara-Ko," a national manzai competition for high schoolers, aiming for success and recognition.
