The crab spider was a non-sentient species of spider native to the planet Despayre,[1] located in the Atrivis sector of the Outer Rim Territories.[2] Inside the shack of Celot Ratua Dil, a prisoner living at Slashtown Prison Colony on Despayre, there was a crab spider as large as Dil's hand that nestled in one of the upper corners near his roof. All the crab spiders on Despayre perished with the destruction of the planet by the first Death Star that occurred in[1] 0 BBY.[3]

The crab spider was created by Michael Reaves and Steve Perry in their novel Death Star, released in 2007.[1]
