- "Yeah, Chewie, it's Childermoss all right. Nobody else would follow us into the Hellhoop."
"The Hellhoop? What's that?"
"It's the space sector ringed by the asteroid belt we just passed through. It's got an evil reputation. Lots of ships went in and didn't come out." - ―Han Solo and Leia Organa
The Hellhoop was a area of space[2] in the Expansion Region, in the Hocatar sector[1] near the planet Attahox. Ringed by an asteroid belt, the Hellhoop was said to have an evil reputation, as many ships that entered the area disappeared and were never seen again. In truth, the ships were captured by an evil-worshipping cult called the Five, which tortured and killed the unfortunate travelers. Their threat ended during the Galactic Civil War, when the Five took Rebel leaders Han Solo, Chewbacca and Leia Organa. Chewbacca was able to free the captive Force demon Wutzek, who rampaged through the Five's warship to kill his former tormentors. Wutzek then allowed the Rebels to escape and destroyed the warship.[2]
Behind the scenes
The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia mistakenly states that Wutzek (misspelled Wuzzek) destroyed the Hellhoop. Wutzek actually only destroyed the Five's warship.[3]
