Plasticene Thermite Cubes, also referred to as plasticene thermite gel, was a controlled explosive produced by Gatrellis. The thermite gel was a malleable substance that could cut through a variety of substances. It was often used by pirates and privateers to cut through hulls or bulkheads.[1]
Thermite Cubes consisted of a grayish-white, putty-like substance[2] that could be shaped and molded, and a kilogram of the gel could be stretched to cover twenty square centimeters.[1] The gel came in one-kilogram cubes, covered in protective wrapping,[2] each costing a thousand credits.[1]
The gel could be ignited by a remote relay,[1] or an electronic detonator. The thermite gel burned at a constant temperature of 500 degrees centigrade, which could defeat most locking mechanisms and, in sufficient quantities, burn through even a ship's hull.[2]
Plasticene thermite gel was sometimes used by Rebel SpecForces, but great skill was required to use it effectively.[3] Gunman, a member of Churhee's Riflemen, also used it for this purpose, allowing his unit to attack opponents from unexpected places.[2]
