The Profusion[4] was a Lucrehulk-class battleship that served within the naval forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars.[1] Measuring 3,356.9 meters in length, 3,009 meters in width and 1,028.77 meters in height, the battleship was equipped with several droid signal receiver stations.[2]
In 19 BBY,[5] the Profusion took part in an unprecedented assault on Coruscant,[4] the capital world of the Galactic Republic in the Core Worlds,[5] alongside a massive Separatist fleet commanded by Kaleesh General Grievous in his attempts to capture the Republic's leader, Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine. However, following his escape from his flagship, the Providence-class Dreadnought Invisible Hand, Grievous was recovered by the Profusion aboard an escape pod. While aboard the Profusion, the Kaleesh ordered his remaining forces to withdraw.[4]
Behind the scenes
The Profusion first appeared, albeit unnamed, in the 2005 prequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith.[1] Although the 2017 reference book Star Wars: On the Front Lines states that the Profusion is a "Separatist frigate,"[4] the 2016 reference book Star Wars: Complete Locations explicitly elaborates that the vessel is a Lucrehulk-class battleship, not a Munificent-class star frigate.[6]
