Tak Base was a minor Rebel Alliance base on Talay,[1] under the command of Admiral Toka during the early years of the Galactic Civil War.
Layout
The Base was built near the city of Talay, a small settlement near a river. A pond separated the city of Talay from the Tak Base area. A rotating bridge, operated form a control room in the middle of the pond, connected the room either towards the settlement or towards the base.[2]
A heavy blast door led to an open courtyard where the Base proper was built. The main area inside was a computer room.[2]
History
Several months after the Evacuation of Yavin, Tak Base became the target of the first demonstration of the dark trooper project. Although the base was shielded, the new Imperial troopers broke them and within minutes they quickly wiped out the base and all the personnel present (and killing many civilians in the siege), proving their efficiency to Darth Vader.[3] Only the Grey Damsel escaped the planet, but a single hidden dark trooper spelled out its demise.[4]
The massacre mobilized the Rebellion, and mercenary Kyle Katarn was sent by Mon Mothma to investigate. In the ruins of the base he discovered an abandoned dark trooper rifle. This evidence allowed him to discover the secret dark trooper project, tracing it to Moff Rebus on Anoat and finally to the Arc Hammer.[3]
