The Show |
The Wild Thornberrys is an animated television series created by Arlene Klasky, Gábor Csupó, Steve Pepoon, David Silverman, and Stephen Sustarsic through Klasky-Csupo for Nickelodeon, running from September 1, 1998, to June 11, 2004, totaling five seasons and 91 episodes.
The series follows the Thornberrys, as they travel the world in their Communications Vehicle looking for rare animals to film. Their youngest child, Eliza has the power to speak to animals because of an encounter with an African shaman, and usually helps animals solve their problems.
A feature film, The Wild Thornberrys Movie, was released on December 20, 2002. A crossover feature film with Nickelodeon's Rugrats, Rugrats Go Wild!, was released on June 13, 2003.The Family |

Facts |
- The series was originally going to be an adult sitcom for Fox titled Nigel Thornberry's Animal World, with Nigel as the lead, but was ultimately rejected. Nickelodeon later picked it up and was redeveloped as a family-oriented series, with Eliza as the lead.
- Rugrats Go Wild! was originally going to be a television movie, until Paramount Pictures turned it into a feature film.
- According to character design supervisor Patrick Dene, after the series, Eliza grows up to host her a wildlife show of her own at age twenty-two, being the world's second most-watched nature show, right behind her father's.
- The Wild Thornberrys was the second Klasky-Csupo and Nickelodeon series to have a crossover with Rugrats, after Aaahh!!! Real Monsters.
