Thousands of years ago, the Pharoah Atem sacrificed himself to seal the seven fabled Millennium Items within his tomb, locked away for eons until Yugi Muto reawakened them by solving his Millennium Puzzle. Becoming a Duelist for the ages, with the help of his friends he vanquished every evil that opposed him, until all that was left in his wake was the spirit of the Puzzle itself: the great Pharoah, Atem. Yugi and Atem dueled honorably in a Ceremonial Battle to determine if Atem would pass into the afterlife, with Yugi emerging victorious against all odds. The Millennium Items receded deep into the ground upon Atem’s death, thought to be lost forever…
However, a deep magic slumbered, stirred by Seto Kaiba himself. The master of the Blue-Eyes White Dragon was driven by his hopes of Dueling the legendary Pharoah once more, but by trespassing into Atem's tomb, he awakened the magic from its rest. Eons ago, after Atem himself was sealed away, his daughter would meet the same fate. The Princess Ammit, her lover, and her confidant Akhratan would all fall victim to the punishment for the Princess’s forbidden romance. The lover, executed without hesitation. The confidant, stripped of his soul and forced to wander the Earth disembodied. The Princess, sealed away in the great stone visage of a statue, cursed to watch over her father’s tomb. With the recovery of the Egyptian God Cards, Akhratan’s soul eventually returned to his body, the chosen one of Obelisk the Tormentor. As for the Princess, she would remain sealed in stone...until her father’s final defeat.
With the intrusion into Atem's tomb, the seal trapping Ammit’s soul within the statue broke. Responding to the magic unleashed by the seal’s breakage, the Millennium Items have once again scattered throughout the world, choosing new possessors. The Ring presented itself to the Princess. The Eye found its way into the hands of Akhratan himself. The Scale wound up in the possession of Michael Pavus, a hotshot Canadian-born Duelist. The Necklace made its way to a Manhattan antique shop, where it caught the eye of Shane Stryker. The Rod and the Key remain lost, waiting patiently to find its possessor. As for the Puzzle...it returned to Yugi, its true chosen one, though now devoid of Atem’s soul.
A goal in mind, the Princess now walks the Earth, preparing to make her move and amassing followers, cards, and wealth. She is coming. Duelists, are you ready to weather the storm of the Princess's wrath?
