Coolth was a substance used on the desert planet Tatooine.[1] In 32 BBY,[2] the junk dealer Watto had private underground tanks of coolth and shisha under the city of Mos Espa that he conveyed through pipes into his junkshop, where the coolth was used in a coolth grid in the building's wall. He also had a surplus coolth conduit lent against the back of the store when the Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his allies visited in search of a T-14 hyperdrive generator.[1]
A coolth inflow pipe that passed through the wall of the Skywalker home in Mos Espa's Slave Quarters Row led to the hovel's second level. Coolth cells in the domes of buildings in Mos Espa Grand Arena, including the arena citadel, ventilated the structures.[1] In 0 BBY,[2] the Lars family had a coolth unit installed in the wall of their homestead on Tatooine.[1]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, coolth was mentioned in the 2016 reference book Star Wars: Complete Locations.[1] It originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in the 1999 reference book Star Wars: Episode I The Visual Dictionary, which was written by David West Reynolds.[3]
