- "The whole planet's covered in snow from pole to pole."
- ―RC-8015
Fest was the primary planet in the Fest system. It was a densely populated world with few wilderness areas beyond several steep-ridged mountain ranges and deep valleys.
Characteristics
- "We visited the industrial plants on Fest, once. The toxic zones were much like this; so many workers were sick."
- ―Vector Hyllus, upon visiting the ruins of the Taris ChemWorks factory
Fest was a planet in the Fest system, in the Atrivis sector in the Outer Rim Territories, located at galactic coordinates L-5.[1] Fest was covered in ice with mountains and valleys.[4]
History
While the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire kept the galaxy in suspense, a climbing tournament was held and promised a reward for the person who climbed the highest mountain of Fest the quickest.[7]
During the Clone Wars, the Confederacy of Independent Systems set up a research center on Fest, developing the phrik supermetal. It was raided and destroyed by Omega Squad ten months into the war.[6]
Years later, the planet was ravaged both by a civil war among its inhabitants and a war against Mantooine. The Festians were rebellious to the Galactic Empire and knew that it was about to attack Mantooine, but the distrust for each other, coupled with a lack of communications facilities, prevented them from giving warning. Ultimately, however, the two planets found common cause in their conflict with the Empire, and their combined resistance forces formed the Atrivis Resistance Group.[2]

Fest housed an Imperial base where phrik alloys were tested, in order to be used for the strong lightweight armor of the dark troopers, an Imperial droid development program. During his investigation on the project, mercenary Kyle Katarn, working in favor of the Rebel Alliance, infiltrated the base. The discovery of such a sample led Kyle and his partner Jan Ors to the Blood Moon of Gromas.[5]
The Weapons Research Facility was under the administration of Moff Kohl Seerdon. Rebel commandos stole All Terrain Personal Transport walkers from the facility, and their escape was covered by Rogue Squadron, an elite Rebel Alliance starfighter unit under the command of Luke Skywalker. After the commandos escaped, the Rogues destroyed the facility[4]
From 4 ABY to 12 ABY, the planet became part of the Pentastar Alignment until the death of Ardus Kaine.[3]
