Gibad was one of the hundreds of agriworlds in the Abrion sector of the Outer Rim Territories. Following the outbreak of the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and Confederacy of Independent Systems, Senator Esu Rotsino, who represented Gibad and the rest of the sector in the Galactic Senate, led the sector and its worlds in defection from the Republic to the Separatist Alliance. After defecting to the Confederacy, who sought to use Gibad's supply of foodstuffs to force starving star systems into joining them, the world was represented by Rotsino in the Separatist Senate alongside the rest of the worlds of the Abrion sector.[1]
Behind the scenes
Gibad was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in Rise of the Separatists, a 2019 supplement to Fantasy Flight Games' series of Star Wars Roleplaying products.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, Gibad first appeared in Imperial Commando: 501st, a 2009 novel authored by Karen Traviss for the Republic Commando multimedia series.[2]
