- "Vader to Super Star Destroyer Annihilator… Mission successful."
- ―Darth Vader, to the Annihilator
Liberty's Misrule,[7] originally known as the Annihilator, was an Executor-class Star Dreadnought[2] that served as the flagship of Grand General Cassio Tagge in the aftermath of the Battle of Yavin.[4] It was later captured by the pirate Eleodie Maracavanya, who expressed distaste at the name Annihilator,[6] and renamed the vessel Liberty's Misrule.[7] The Liberty's Misrule became the center of Maracavanya's nation.[6]
History
Imperial era
In 0 ABY, the Annihilator was under the command of Grand General Cassio Tagge. Having been demoted by Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine for his failure at the Battle of Yavin, Darth Vader was tasked with working with Tagge to stop pirate attacks. Vader managed to disable a CR90 corvette belonging to the pirates and brought it aboard the Annihilator.[4] Tagge later planned to move his command to the nearly-complete Super Star Destroyer Executor.[8] When Tagge was demoted following the Cylo Hijacking and Vader was named supreme commander of the Imperial fleet as the Emperor's faith in his Sith apprentice was restored, the Executor instead became Vader's flagship, and the Sith Lord's first act with his new command was to execute Tagge.[9]
Captured by Eleodie Maracavanya
In 5 ABY, the Annhiliator was captured by pirate Eleodie Maracavanya, who wanted to start a pirate kingdom. Using the Super Star Destroyer's tractor beam, the Annihilator drew a ship belonging to the Rang Clan into its docking bay, as Maracavanya wanted it as part of zher fleet. However, because one of zher crew forgot to seal the breaching airlock, they suffered problems and the clan was nearly able to destroy them.[6]
Later on, the Annihilator again captured a ship with its tractor beam, this one a CR90 corvette belonging to senatorial ambassador Tia'dor Emshwa. Maracavanya informed its crew that they were taking their ship, but that they were free to leave using the escape pods, unless they wanted to join zher. Only a girl named Kartessa and her mother agreed to join Maracavanya's crew.[6]
The Annihilator became the center of Maracavanya's nation, the Sovereign Latitudes of Maracavanya. Zhe continually brought on old starfighters to the Annihilator to retrofit and add to zher fleet. Eventually, zhe renamed the Star Destroyer to the Liberty's Misrule. Thousands of people lived aboard the Star Destroyer in tents, shipping pods, and ramshackle crate-shacks, inside hangar bays that were once for ships. One of these encampments was known as Hangartown. The people onboard operated markets and cooked food using jury-rigged thermal vents carved out of the underfloor ducts.[7]
During the Battle of Jakku, three Imperial II-class Star Destroyers fled the battle and jumped to the Liberty's Misrule, thinking that it was an Imperial remnant. They attempted to hail the Super Star Destroyer, but Maracavanya ordered zher fleet to attack the Imperials. The Star Destroyers were destroyed and their wreckage sent to the New Republic.[7]
