"The Banking Clan will sign your treaty."
―Chairman San Hill, to Count Dooku[4]

The Muunilinst Banking Clan, also known as San Hill's InterGalactic Banking Clan, was a division of the InterGalactic Banking Clan based on the planet Muunilinst.

History

The Muunilinst Banking Clan was a division of the overall InterGalactic Banking Clan,[2] a major banking institution in the galaxy.[5] It was the banking clan division personally led by San Hill,[6] who also served as chairman of the InterGalactic Banking Clan overall.[1] It was based on[2] the planet[7] Muunilinst[2] in the Outer Rim Territories.[8] At the onset of the Clone Wars, Hill secretly allied the Banking Clan with Count Dooku's Confederacy of Independent Systems,[3] donating its IG-227 Hailfire-class droid tanks to the growing Separatist Droid Army[9] and offering financial aid to the Confederacy.[10] As such, the Muunilinst Banking Clan would help fund construction of the Death Star battle station.[2]

Hill's agreement was non-exclusive in nature[11] as the IGBC did business with both the Republic and Confederacy in the ensuing Clone Wars,[5] although the organization in truth had a bias towards the CIS.[12] Even after control of the IGBC was ceded to the Office of the Chancellor,[5] the Muunilinst Banking Clan continued supporting the Separatists, as shown through Hill's continued seat on the Confederacy's leadership council,[13] but became entrenched on the planet Mygeeto, a Banking Clan stronghold.[2] However, the newly-formed Galactic Empire nationalized its assets[14] after Hill was unceremoniously executed by the Sith Lord Darth Vader on Mustafar.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Muunilinst Banking Clan first appeared, identified simply as the Banking Clan, in the 2002 film Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones.[4]
